When do meetings take place?
Meetings for elected committees are generally held on Monday and Wednesday mornings between 9:30 and 11 a.m. Meetings for appointed committees are generally scheduled via a poll by the committee chair.

Do I have to serve on committees?
Committee service is an important aspect of shared governance and is considered when applying for promotion. The committee preference form has a space to indicate if you have an obligation that prevents you from serving on committees. 

How is committee service determined?
Committees are both elected and appointed. Elected committee spots are filled via a ballot. Appointment committee spots are selected by the Committee on Committee, which is the PTK Executive Committee. Committee assignments, including elected assignments, are balanced by the Committee on Committees to ensure opportunities are distributed across the faculty.

On how many committees will I serve?
We aim to assign each person to just one committee, other than committees on which one serves by virtue of their rank or teaching assignment (e.g. all Principal Lecturers are members of the Department Assembly).
