Ulrich Recital Hall
Ulrich Recital Hall is located on the first floor of Tawes Hall at the University of Maryland, College Park.
Reservations for this space are handled by the School of Music and English department using the form linked below. Before requesting a reservation, please check the calendar below to see if the time you're requesting is available. Questions can be directed to englmeo@umd.edu.
Requests Outside of Business Hours (10AM - 4PM)
Student groups are required to have a UMD faculty, staff, or graduate assistant for after-hours events. This sponsor must be the one to pick up and be responsible for the key, and must be present for the entirety of the event, if the event is before 10 am or after 4 pm, M-F (or on University holidays).
Technology
The technology in Ulrich is supported by the College of Arts and Humanities (ARHU) Classroom Support. If you plan to use screen projection, microphones, sound, etc. during the event, we strongly encourage you to contact them at arhuitequip@umd.edu at least 72 business hours before the event to schedule a technology orientation.
Due to the high number of reservations for Ulrich, wireless microphones are routinely difficult to find and may be uncharged. Additionally, wired microphones may not work in the space, as most of the sockets for them are not operational.
Audio playback from the computer is in working order. However, the recital hall echoes significantly and may not be ideal for playback of recorded materials.
Piano
The piano in Ulrich Recital Hall is owned by the School of Music. Individuals who wish to use it must be vetted by them. Please contact Aaron Muller at amuller@umd.edu for more information. The piano is a permanent prop of the recital hall and requests to have it moved off stage are only approved if it absolutely hinders your event. Requests to have the piano moved require at least one week’s notice. The piano can be pushed from center stage, but must be done with extreme caution, since doing so could damage the piano. Individuals who move the piano assume full responsibility for any damage incurred, including scratches.
